SCOTT IAN, COMIC BOOK WRITER

You take your good with your bad, I guess.
Scott Ian must be bummed that Anthrax are
again looking for a new singer, after Dan Nelson recorded a new album with them, but was fired after that. On the other hand, tomorrow is the street date for issue #1 of his two issue DC Comics series, Lobo: Highway To Hell. It will be illustrated by Sam Keith, creator of The Maxx - he also illustrated the first five issues of Neil Gaiman's Sandman. Scott Ian is a long time comics fan: the early Anthrax classic "I Am The Law" is a tribute to (then-) underground character Judge Dread.

I remember before Dan Nelson joined Anthrax, there were rumors that they were working with Corey Taylor, but Roadrunner Records didn't let it happen, because he is the frontman for two of their biggest bands, Slipknot and Stone Sour. Although now Corey Taylor is talking about making a solo album, and he's admitted that he tried out for Velvet Revolver, but it didn't work out. Maybe he's the right guy for Anthrax (at least for this album and tour).

Meanwhile, Anthrax is going through their vaults (or at least their old record label is): next week will see the release of Caught In A Mosh: BBC Live in Concert, which features recordings from 1987, and also the deluxe reissue of their 1987 album Among The Living.
